Knowing English is important to us all in a global world.  Our Australian volunteers teach English abroad to poor students and adults through active learnig rather than the rote learning by heart in the traditional education system.  Our Australian volunteers learn to teach our learning by doing style.  We train our volunteers during our Volunteer & Cross Cultural Training.  Don't miss it!

Ecotourism and Wildlife Conservation in Thailand, Laos, Nepal

Local villagers lack good education, and their nature is endangered.  Knowledge is key to conservation and sustainable ecotourism.  Knowledge allows local people to gain from a living nature giving them long-term opportunities rather than using it up for short-term gain.

Our volunteers from Australia teach English to local guides and villagers, design information, brochures and websites, build trails, participate in wildlife surveys and help raise awareness of the benefits of sustainable ecotourism.

Openmind Projects works with national parks and marine centers to protect endangered marine life,  and to rehabilitate and preserve coral reefs, marine life and mangrove forests.  We help promote responsible and community-based ecotourism that benefits local communities over the long term.

Australian and other overseas volunteers' work is seasonal and depends on weather, the project needs and the experience of the volunteer.  Volunteer work includes assisting in marine surveys, scuba diving, preparing documentation, clean-up work and teaching English.

Hundreds of thousands of Burmese refugees, often stateless, live along the border between Thailand and Myanmar in very poor conditions with an uncertain future.

We invite our Australian and other volunteers to orphan homes and schools where they can teach English and IT or care for young children.  We donate computers to schools and children's homes, and we invite young people from the border areas as our trainees to our Training Center in Thailand.  You can help them too!

Child and health care volunteers from Australia and overseas contribute to better care for poor people.  Our volunteers help improve local people's English skills.  Qualified volunteers bring experience and skills to supplement those of the often under-resourced and overworked staff in health care centers and hospitals.

Poor health impedes personal growth and drains resources from those around them.  Australian volunteers bring skills that can help people to a better future through better health!
